We welcome George Brogmus, MS, CPE, as the new IAB Chair!

As Chair, George will help maintain communication with the site and managing directors and support recruitment, cooperative efforts, and project dissemination with current and potential members. Mr. Brogmus is the Product Director - Science & Research with Liberty Mutual’s Risk Control Services, responsible for establishing and coordinating research and development partnerships with Universities, consortiums, and technology innovators. He is responsible for Liberty’s Workplace Safety Index annual publication. He conducts safety research, writes peer-reviewed articles, and develops consulting tools and resources in the areas of back pain reduction, the aging workforce, upper extremity musculoskeletal disorders, same-level falls, manual handling risk assessment, and the impact of work scheduling on fatigue and injury risk.

Mr. Brogmus leads the development of the Liberty Mutual ErgoValuator™, a manual material handling risk assessment iPhone app that estimates task parameters using video analysis of the task. Mr. Brogmus is co-developer of Liberty Mutual’s biomechanical analysis software, VidLiTeC™ and creator of Liberty Mutual’s SIRE (Work Scheduling Impact Risk Estimator) and BIRP (Back Injury Rate Prediction) programs. He is co-inventor of Liberty Mutual’s patented Musculoskeletal Stress Measurement System.

He has a BSEE (UCLA), a Masters in Human Factors (USC), and is currently a PhD candidate in Public Health (UCLA). He also is a Certified Professional Ergonomist.

Mr. Brogmus teaches graduate Ergonomics and Occupational Safety courses at UCLA and California State University Northridge and has taught UCLA’s monthly Ergonomics webinar since 2008 through UCLA’s NIOSH-Funded Education and Research Center.
